| RE: New Mitte |
|
The middle of Germany is Berlin. For ten years young people coming from the german provinces to the inner city of Berlin had time to riot and rampage in a deserted center of the town. Now they are overhauled by tourists and the officials of the start-up nation. The reconfiguration of Berlin is the reinvention of Germany as a peaceful and civilized nation headed by a new young and fashionable urban consumer elite.
On 10th of May three fabulous guys on the cutting edge of Berlins netculture will be guests of METABOLICS#5 in Muffathalle Munich: Sebstaian Leutgert, Rafael Horzon and DJ Ran Huber. |
| "One cannot make much, if one is not two". This is how SEBASTIAN LUETGERT starts his "Introduction to a true history of the Internet". Luetgert is nettime and mikro-moderator, founder of rolux.org and the DaimlerChrysler club, textz and project Gnutenberg, and last but not least: "Last tuesday", a jour fixe in Berlins "_lab", where people can "exchange mp3 files, beta-test new viruses from Asia or vote for the most stupid new dot-com brand". |

| RAFAEL HORZON is CEO of the MODOCOM group and author of books as "Be modern - Fit in your mind for the third millenium (vol 1 + 2)" Horzon is a chronicler of the dramatic changes in our times, but at the same time he represents a driving force behind them. For the magazine DE:BUG he writes a well known column about new marketing strategies, trends and hypes coming from the german capital. And with his own projects energetically he helped to create the "New Mitte" of Berlin from both, the inside and the outside. The "all-round rack", the only product of his furniture chain store "Moebel Horzon", is utilized by numerous start-up companies to arrange their ideas. Horzons "Science Academy" is the innovative and challenging model for the reorganisation of the educational sector. Next september the modocom group will launch two new businesses: a design center and a building company. |

| RAN HUBER escaped from a village in Upper Bavaria first to Munich, then via Cologne to Berlin, where in the middle of "New Mitte" he found again rural structures. Under the slogan "amSTARt" he started a serie of concerts, which get together bands from Munich and Berlin. His party-tips by email and his column "the daily rape" are favourites of the "Mitte"-community. As a DJ at METABOLICS#5 he brings the soundtrack of the capital straight to Munich. |
